Dear Nikki,
The other day, I was casually browsing the internet when I found a link back to an ALD thread of cards. That's when I got the inspiration to finish the set I had started oh so long ago. Actual sets of cards come out every three months nowadays, and I began to realize, looking through them, that a lot of people work together to make one set, which is pretty awesome. It made me miss my days of card making, so I began intense work on my cards. When I finish them, there really won't be much to do with them. Sure, I can showcase them on YCM or dA, but there isn't much to it other than that. I realized though, if I put together all the different successful archetypes and card sets that the ALD made, we would have roughly enough to make a set.
I wondered, then, if I could find the cards. I found some, but not many. YCM has this thing that it does now - it deletes really old threads. It makes me sad to see that most of these threads no longer exist, but sadder to know that our glory days as a group are but a fossil, shattered in the forgotten history of the forums. While the original ALD forum still stands, it remains but a ghost town, never again to be bumped.
I wondered, though: could I somehow reunite my old friends, even if just for a little while? We've all grown a lot, and I'm sure that, even though we are much different than we were just a few years ago, we are still similar enough to get along and work on a project. What if we were to make a set, just for old time's sake, and show current YCM'ers how it's done? What if we could shock the forum with a set of awesome cards of our own creation, made from scratch? Regardless of the feedback we'd get, it'd be a lot of fun.
